What will you gain from this article? You will be provided with an insight into how I plan to build an empire through innovation, disruption and revolution of an industry. The value I intend to provide is to give you the opportunity to consider how you will build your own empire, should that be your wish, through complete transparency and honesty about my plan for life. I spent a fair amount of time editing the article to make sure that it wasn’t needlessly long and that every sentence is packed with value. Interested? Read on.

At the moment I am a nobody. Like many others, I am an aspiring entrepreneur. So why should you listen to me? Well, really, you shouldn’t. You should only listen to yourself once you have synthesised my thoughts and ideas. I’m just wanting to document my journey so in 30 years time when someone asks me how I did what I did — I can point back to articles like this. …

Hint: You’re not going to like the answer...

It’s hard work. That’s it. That’s the answer. You can stop reading this article. Study anyone who has achieved success their field — you’ll see a pattern, they all worked extremely hard. The true path to success is hard work, crazy hard work. There’s no gimmicks or get-rich-quick schemes; if you want success in any field you have to work hard. If you want to get ahead of someone else then you have to work harder than them. In diluted terms, if someone works 40 hours a week at someone you work 80 hours at then you will get twice as much done — as Elon Musk commented. …

Improve your odds of success by developing the two qualities all successful entrepreneurs possess.

Success is something that has many paths. I am often thinking of the various paths notable entrepreneurs have taken and where I best fit in that structure. I usually operate on a basis of trying to improve the chances of success and how the actions I take today should, in theory, be contributing to my goals in 30 years time. However, when I look into the idea of success; how and why it occurs in many others — I inadvertently stumbled upon a common denominator across all successful entrepreneurs. …

Why you need to change your mentality about entrepreneurship.

Build-to-sell is killing entrepreneurship at its root. Time for a bit of a rant. I do not like build-to-sell culture. Plain and simple. Build-to-sell is the polar opposite of every fibre of my being. Why? Because build-to-sell is when you create a company will the sole intention of selling it within 3–5 years. So what does that tell me about the creator? …

Get more out of each day by gaining a real perspective on who you are and your capabilities.

After learning everything I thought I could about myself, I recently made a few new discoveries. In this article, I’d like to share the discoveries I made, how I made them and how it can impact your life. Do you ever feel like you’re not performing at your peak ability but can’t figure out why? I certainty did last week…

I began a new writing series called ‘Word of the Week’, in which, I boil my entire week — good, bad and ugly — into one word and then justify why it is that word over any other. A very interesting process indeed — having to assess the effectiveness of the past week has its challenges. I document each of my days which assist with this but it also allows me to study what’s going wrong. …

Want to change the world and think politics is the answer? Think again.

From a young age I always wanted to change the world — become someone great; do something great. I always thought politics was the answer – it isn’t. In September of 2021, I’m due to begin my course of PPE (politics, philosophy and economics) and I doubt that will be happening. I’m going to try and change my course prior to starting as I now understand that if you want to change the world; business is the way forward. …

How can you begin to introduce innovation in your life?

Welcome to the very first ‘Word of the Week’ — it’s great to have you here! This is an article series by myself, Kieran Audsley, where I reflect on the week I’ve had and assign a word best fitted to it. A word to encompass the progress made across the entire week — this week’s word is innovation. Now who am I? I’m simply an aspiring entrepreneur trying to document my journey. Enjoy!

What is Innovation?

The Cambridge Dictionary defines innovation as ‘a new idea of method, or the use of new ideas and methods’. This perfectly describes the week I’ve had although I feel that definition does not do such an important word justice. Innovation is the epitome of entrepreneurship. Innovation is at the heart of all entrepreneurs. All great entrepreneurs came through innovation. Progress of any kind is completed through innovation. Everything you do in life, the fact that you have a life — all comes from innovation of some kind. …

It’s the same old problem — too many books to read and not enough time in the day. It’s frustrating — you want to commit yourself to more books but it seems an impossible task. It was the task I was confronted with when I decided I wanted to read more. I set myself the challenge of reading 10 books per month. These tips I will share with you benefitted greatly in that pursuit. Since setting myself the challenge I’ve either hit the goal or come very close to 10 books. In the past 4 months, I’ve read more books than I have in my entire life. …

Momentum is the only way to make it in this life.

What do we mean by momentum? Momentum is defined as ‘mass in motion’ — how is this related to our life? Because momentum is something that builds — through movement, through constant and consistent action. It is something that builds and culminates into success over a long time. The problem is, people are struggling to maintain it… Today we’re going to look at momentum, how you can implement it and how you can work to sustain it.

What really is momentum?

So we can fully grasp the concept of momentum I’d like to introduce a brilliant passage from ‘Good to Great’ by Jim Collins. ‘Picture a huge, heavy flywheel — a massive metal disk mounted horizontally on an axle, about 30 feet in diameter, 2 feet thick, and weighing about 5,000 pounds. Now imagine that your task is to get that flywheel rotating on the axle as fast and long as possible. Pushing with great effort, you get the flywheel to inch forward, moving almost imperceptibly at first. You keep pushing and, after two or three hours of persistent effort, you get the flywheel to complete one entire turn.’ …

Failure in life is guaranteed — just make sure that you adapt because of it.

I recently failed. The failure began 4 days ago and I only noticed this morning. While this failure was rather embarrassing, I will not let it slow me down. In fact, I will utilise the failure and gain knowledge from it. In this article, we are going to discuss the failure I faced, how I dealt with it and what I’m going to do going forward — along the way I will outline my personal ways of dealing with failure to push myself to a more positive direction. …
